Shizukuishi Prince Hotel and Shizukuishi Ski Resort (Takakura Onsen, Shizukuishi Town, Iwate County, Iwate Prefecture) will start operation of the limited-time “Shizukuishi Autumn Leaves Ropeway” on October 7.
Takakura at an elevation of 1409 meters, and is the only ropeway in Iwate. The ropeway usually operates from mid-October to early November, when the autumn leaves are at their best. Visitors can enjoy the gradation of autumn colors that vary with elevation, the townscape of Shizukuishi Town, the golden rice fields in harvest season, and the spectacular view of the mountains.
Gear for enjoying the outdoors, such as hammocks and reclining chairs, are available for rent near the summit station building at 730 meters above sea level. You can also take the Shizukuishi Momiji Ropeway with your dog and play in the newly built dog run.
After a 7-minute aerial walk on the Shizukuishi Momiji Ropeway, visitors can also take the “Autumn Walk” from the summit station building to the top of Mt. Visitors are required to wear trekking shoes and other mountain climbing gear.
