Open Innovation Challenge TSUBASA2023 Kick-off event and pre-application consultation | News & Media

Posted on September 12, 2023 by News Admin

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with IDB Lab of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, will hold the “Open Innovation Challenge TSUBASA2023” from October to December 2023 to discover Japanese start-up companies aiming to expand into the Latin America and Caribbean region and support their business development. The “Open Innovation Challenge TSUBASA2023” will be held from October to December 2023 to discover Japanese startup companies seeking to expand into Latin America and the Caribbean and provide parallel support for their business development.

The Latin America and Caribbean region faces a variety of development challenges, including social disparities, deforestation and environmental pollution, delays in water and sewage system development, and access to healthcare. On the other hand, with a population of approximately 650 million and a GDP of over US$5.5 trillion, the region’s economy is larger than that of ASEAN. In addition, a startup ecosystem has been rapidly forming in the region in recent years. Taking advantage of this environment, JICA and IDB Lab are offering this support program to address development issues by encouraging Japanese start-ups to expand their businesses into the region.
