Ashihara-Onsen Station The entire station will be finished in subdued colors and wood tones to create a quaint Japanese image that expresses the healing and travel atmosphere of Awara Onsen (hot springs). At the west exit of the station, a lively facility called “Afrea” will open, with a hall and tourist information center on the first floor and “FUKUI MYU-JIAM” on the second floor. Events and a market will also be held.

Fukui Station The design combines wood louvers with a bright, open glass surface in the motif of the “Karamon” gate of the Ichijodani Asakura clan ruins, a popular tourist attraction. The concourse also uses wood and Japanese paper produced in the prefecture. Multiple redevelopment projects are underway in front of the station, including the opening of a hotel building that will be the tallest in the prefecture at approximately 120 meters above ground level.

Echizen Takefu Station is the only new station in the prefecture that is not attached to a JR station. The motif of the station is a stork that flies to Echizen City, and the “Nagashizuki” lighting of Echizen washi paper is used to promote the Tannan area, where traditional crafts are concentrated. Prior to the opening of the Shinkansen, a roadside station “Echizen Takefu” opened next door in March. It is equipped with restaurants and BBQ facilities where visitors can taste local seafood.
