Osaka Monorail, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Visa Worldwide Japan, JCB, Nippon Signal, and QUADRAC will begin offering rides at all Osaka Monorail stations in the spring of 2024 using touch-sensitive cards or smartphones with these cards installed.
Osaka Monorail will utilize “stera transit,” a public transportation solution provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Card, to improve the environment in anticipation of an increase in domestic and international visitors to the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025.
Touch-sensitive cards (credit, debit, and prepaid) and smartphones eliminate the need to purchase IC cards and boarding passes. The payment methods covered are Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay (*Mastercard will be added in due course).
