Mori Trust and Marriott International will open the Shisui Luxury Collection Hotel Nara (62 Noborioji-cho, Nara City, Nara Prefecture) in Nara Park on August 29.

In 2016, Nara Prefecture announced its policy to lease the nearby area where the public building, Yoshijoen, and other buildings are located as a hotel site. The hotel will open as Shisui Luxury Collection Hotel Nara, a double-branded hotel under Mori Trust Group’s Midori SUI hotel brand and Marriott International’s The Luxury Collection hotel brand.

Located about a 10-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station, the property is on the west side of Nara Park, which is home to the World Heritage Sites of Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Kofukuji Temple. Many of Nara’s most famous cultural assets are within walking distance, and there is no shortage of sightseeing resources in the ancient capital of Nara.

The main building of the hotel, where guests first set foot, is a renovated one-story wooden building built in the Taisho era (1912-1926) that was once the official residence of the governor of Nara Prefecture. The hotel is a valuable place to stay and glimpse a part of Japan’s history.

The facility consists of the hotel’s main building and a newly constructed two-story lodging building across the street in a corner of Yoshijoen. The main building has a lounge that also serves as the hotel reception, a restaurant “Suiba” (54 seats in total) that was renovated from a former guest room, and a sushi and bar “Shokura” (8 seats in total) that was renovated from a warehouse in the governor’s office building.

The restaurant “Suiba” has a rich natural Japanese garden in front of it, where you can enjoy the seasonal scenery while dining, and enjoy local Nara ingredients and creative cuisine that is a fusion of Japanese and French cuisine. Also, at Sushi & Bar “Shokura”, you can enjoy a sushi course meal that fuses Nara’s history and Japanese sushi in a premium space with only 8 counter seats.

The new accommodation building was newly constructed and is located across the path from the main building. It has a total of 43 rooms, 23 of which have private hot spring baths or open-air baths.

There are a total of 20 Standard Superior Rooms. Deluxe Rooms” have an all-room open-air bath and an open-air hot spring bath, and there are 15 in total.

The “Suite Rooms” consist of five junior suites (one of which has an outdoor hot spring bath), two suites, and one top-of-the-line presidential suite, all eight of which have a hot spring bath.

On the premises where the accommodation building is located, there is also a private “SUI Spa” with a natural hot spring open-air bath available only to guests, where they can receive original treatments.
