Walt Disney Imagineering explains the new DisneySea area, Rapunzel’s Forest! ‘This is the first attraction to allow guests to go to the Lantern Festival.’

Posted on August 25, 2023 by News Admin

In this issue, we asked a representative of Walt Disney Imagineering, a group of creators who plan and design attractions, about the “Rapunzel’s Forest,” the area from the movie Rapunzel on the Tower, about their specialties.

Oriental Land Co. has opened the construction site of its large-scale Tokyo DisneySea development, Fantasy Springs, to the press for the first time. The new theme port, Tokyo DisneySea’s eighth, is scheduled to open in the spring of 2024.

And that item from the barroom roughnecks! Let’s talk dreams like in the movies with “Snuggly Duckling!”

Rapunzel’s Forest is a new area consisting of one attraction and one restaurant. Staci Schofield and Danielle Urban of Walt Disney Imagineering said, “Welcome! To Rapunzel’s Forest!” They welcomed us with smiles while telling us many things about the area.

Regarding the “Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival” attraction, she said, “This is the first time we too have had an attraction where guests head to the Lantern Festival! The lanterns rustle in the festival scene and we were able to pour quite a bit of time into it, creating a very beautiful scene. We hope you will experience it”.

As for the tower where Rapunzel lived, the symbol of the area, he said, “It is about 20 meters high, and we made it so that it balances with its surroundings.

As for the “Snuggly Duckling” counter restaurant, the key to its success is its high level of reproducibility. He said, “I wanted the guests to really feel as if they were in the world of the movie after watching it so many times. Therefore, “the tavern (tavern) is exactly as it was in the movie. It was built next to a tree, so as it grows, the building itself leans just like in the movie.

He added, “Not only the building, but the signage is designed just as it is in the movie! The interior is also furnished with many little items of rough-and-tumble. It’s their storage place.” And by the way, “What about the hole that leads to the underground passageway for escape?” We can’t write it down here, so let’s check it out on site.
