Ask an Imagineer about the particulars of the new DisneySea theme port “Fantasy Springs” (rock art).

Posted on August 25, 2023 by News Admin

Oriental Land Co. has opened the construction site of its large-scale Tokyo DisneySea development, Fantasy Springs, to the press for the first time. The new theme port, Tokyo DisneySea’s eighth, is scheduled to open in the spring of 2024.

Walt Disney Imagineering rep: “Find your own rock art character!”

At the Fantasy Springs construction site, which is currently under development, a representative from Walt Disney Imagineering, a group of creators who plan and design attractions, gave an explanation.

The theme park area consists of three areas: Frozen Kingdom, the area from the Disney film “Anna and the Snow Queen,” Rapunzel’s Forest, the area from “Rapunzel on the Tower,” and Peter Pan’s Neverland, the area from “Peter Pan. First, we asked about the hotel and the area around the “Magical Fountain” where the story begins.

On site, Zsolt Hormay of the company explained the “theme finishes” that he is in charge of. The project covers a variety of areas such as rock art, character painting, and facades for guests to visually enjoy when they visit the park. A national team of artists from 90 countries has been assembled for this project, and 60 to 65 field art directors have been hired.

While the Prometheus Volcano has 20,000 m2 of rock art, the new theme port has almost twice as much, or about 39,000 m2. Disney characters are formed in various parts of the area in a setting where beautiful figures are created by a magical fountain. As for where the art is located, “You’ll have to look around the area and find it yourself! You will be able to find out where the art is located by looking around the area.

In addition to the rock art around the hotel, the “Peter Pan” area’s volcano and floating clouds and the “Anna and the Snow Queen” area’s snow mountain are also being colored by the Theme Finish team.

Mark Schirmer also gave an overview of the area as a whole. The new theme port will be themed around the Disney fantasy world of the magical fountain, and the “magical water” from the fountain will form waterfalls and ponds that will flow into three iconic areas.

In addition, Peter Arnet said that access to the theme port will be available between the Arabian Coast and the Lost River Delta.
