Michi-no-Eki Salmon Park Chitose (2-4-2 Hanazono, Chitose City, Hokkaido) will hold its grand reopening on August 26. It will sell mainly original and gourmet products based on the theme of salmon, which is also the name of the store, as well as agricultural products and processed foods. The food court will feature six stores, including a seafood bowl, ramen, and a bakery.

Located near New Chitose Airport and the Chitose Interchange on the Hokkaido Expressway, the station is the starting point for sightseeing in Hokkaido, and is adjacent to the Chitose River, a clear stream where salmon run upstream. From late August to early December each year, the catching of salmon using a water wheel called an Indian water wheel is an autumn tradition, and the Chitose Aquarium, one of the largest freshwater fish aquariums in Japan, is also located on the premises.

The renovated facility will be reborn as a facility that communicates the attractiveness of salmon, its food culture and tourism resources to Japan and the world under the concept of “We love salmon, come on to Chitose!

Of the four areas that make up the Michi-no-Eki (Roadside Station), the “Product Corner/Agricultural Products Sales Area,” “Grill Restaurant,” “Food Court,” and “Convenience Store,” the Product Corner/Agricultural Products Sales Area has been expanded to approximately double its area. It will sell agricultural and regional specialties and processed products, such as vegetables and fruits delivered from contract farmers, as well as approximately 70 types of original products developed by the company, including salmon and salmon-themed products, seasonings, and boxed confectionaries.

The grill restaurant “Salmon King” uses salmon and other seafood, beef, pork, and chicken in grilled dishes. The restaurant will also offer hamburgers and pasta, and will be an entertainment restaurant where guests can enjoy an extraordinary experience.

The food court will feature a total of six specialty stores, including Kaisendon-ya Totomaru Shokudo (seafood bowl restaurant), TAMAGOYA Oyako-don to Zangi (juicy zangi and fluffy oyako-don), strawberry sweets stores, and bakeries.
