Navitime Japan has added the “Express Fee Saving Route” feature to its “au Car Navi” smartphone application, which is compatible with both Android and iOS operating systems.
By shortening the expressway sections while taking into account tolls and travel time, the system suggests routes that increase travel time but reduce expressway tolls. If there is a route that can be suggested, a pull-down menu will appear in the “Recommendations” section after the route search, which can be tapped to view the fare-saving route.
