Minutes of Discussion on Technical Cooperation Project for Indonesia Signed: Contributing to Achieving the SDGs | News & Media

Posted on August 16, 2023 by News Admin

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions (R/D) with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia on August 14 in Jakarta on the technical cooperation project “Strengthening Local Implementation System for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Project.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are goals that should be pursued by the international community as a whole, and Indonesia is making a national effort to achieve these goals. However, as the world’s largest archipelagic nation with a vast land area and more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia needs to strengthen its capacity to address local issues and to achieve the Goals through the participation of domestic non-governmental organizations, especially small and medium-sized local businesses.

This project will contribute to further promoting the Government of Indonesia’s efforts to achieve the SDGs, by utilizing and disseminating the results of the previous phase of technical cooperation, the “Strengthening the Implementation System for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Project,” and promoting partnerships with local governments, especially in the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of SDG policies, with the National Development Planning Agency and SDG Secretariat as the main counterpart, as well as with the private sector and others. The project will contribute to the achievement of all SDGs, especially Goal 17 (Achieve the Goals through Partnerships) by promoting partnerships with the private sector and other organizations.
