Preventing head-on collisions on long temporary two-lane bridges and tunnels: Three NEXCO companies expand trial installation of demarcation fences. 20 routes nationwide, totaling 13 km.

Posted on August 14, 2023 by News Admin

On August 3, the three NEXCO companies announced that they will expand the number of locations where demarcation fences will be installed on a trial basis on long bridges and tunnels on temporary two-lane expressways.

These temporary two-lane roads currently use many rubber poles, and it has been difficult to install wire ropes as demarcation fences to replace the rubber poles because the road width and structure do not allow for the driving of posts.

The center pipe and center block, which were developed through public solicitation, have been installed on a trial basis since October 2021, and now the number of locations where they will be installed has been expanded to 13 km along 20 routes nationwide. The installation is scheduled for this fiscal year or later.
