Posted on August 1, 2023 by News Admin

KDDI will hold a carbon neutral hands-on learning event at its GINZA 456 Created by KDDI concept store in Ginza, Tokyo from July 28 to early October.

This event is part of the company’s sustainable management initiatives, and will allow participants to experience and learn knowledge related to carbon neutrality through the use of technologies such as projection mapping and augmented reality (AR).

In the experience zone on the first basement floor, three walls and the floor are decorated with projection mapping, allowing visitors to learn about the significance of carbon neutral initiatives in each of three scenes: forest, city, and ocean. Trees and seaweed grow when you touch the glistening areas on the walls, and explanations are displayed when you look into the walls through the binocular-type AR glasses that are available for rent.

In the exhibition zone on the first floor, KDDI’s initiatives will be introduced. The exhibit will include perovskite solar cells, a bendable solar cell supported by the company, tumblers and chopsticks made of “modo-cell,” an alternative plastic material derived from plants, a cell phone that achieves a 99.8% recycling rate by manually dividing the phone, and “Biome,” an application equipped with AI to determine the names of living creatures. Biome,” an application that uses AI to determine the names of living organisms, will also be introduced.

For elementary school students, a sheet that can be used for free research during summer vacation will be distributed, where they can paste their own photos and write their impressions to complete their free research materials.
