The Chugoku Regional Headquarters of JR West has developed “Level Crossing Gate-Lite” to improve safety at high-risk Class 4 level crossings (crossing with only warning signs).
The system is limited to pedestrian crossings and is intended to be easy for pedestrians to use and to encourage them to pause and check left and right at the same level as the level crossing gates.
Preparations are underway for the installation of approximately 25 locations by the end of FY2023.
