KDDI and Navitime to Provide Inbound Version of Dynamic Analysis Tool from October

Posted on July 2, 2023 by News Admin

KDDI and Navitime Japan announced the launch of “KDDI Location Analyzer (for foreigners visiting Japan) Powered by NAVITIME,” a human flow analysis dashboard service that enables detailed analysis of destinations visited by foreigners visiting Japan (inbound), starting in early October.

KDDI provides “KDDI Location Analyzer,” a service that enables analysis of human flow based on location data of approximately 3 million au cell phone users collected with their consent, and has confirmed its usefulness by providing it free of charge to local governments for the Corona Disaster. The usefulness of this service has been confirmed by providing it free of charge to local governments in the wake of the Corona disaster.

The new service is based on the GPS location data of approximately 300,000 users of “Japan Travel by NAVITIME,” a smartphone application provided by NAVITIME for foreign visitors to Japan, and enables similar analysis of human flow. The service targets local governments and private companies involved in tourism and other businesses.

In a preliminary analysis of tourist destinations conducted prior to the launch of the service, a comparison was made between domestic residents of Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, and foreign visitors to Japan, and it was confirmed that many of them stayed mainly along Kokusai-dori Avenue.

On the other hand, an analysis of the Peace Memorial Park area in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, showed an increase in visitors from the U.S. and Germany compared to the pre-Corona period, while visitors from China and other East Asian countries were observed to have decreased.

In Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, we analyzed the time of day for visits to tourist spots such as Kenrokuen Garden, Higashi Chaya-gai, and Omi-machi Market. Although the absolute number of visitors is higher during the daytime, the ratio of visitors stopping by Omi-machi Market with its many restaurants in the morning and at night tends to be higher than in other areas.

Takahiro Yamamoto, General Manager of Data Management Department, Corporate Strategy Division, KDDI, said that the results of such analysis can be used to update excursion routes and for consideration in prioritizing the languages that should be supported by operations in the facility.

According to him, the advantages of this service over similar services are its long analysis period, the ability to make comparisons with pre-coronal data, and the ability to perform analysis with fine granularity, such as 10m or 125m mesh.

The fee structure is 1.2 million yen for 3 months, 2.4 million yen for 6 months, and 4.8 million yen for 12 months, but campaign pricing is available until March 2024, at 900,000 yen, 1.8 million yen, and 3.6 million yen, respectively. The campaign prices are 1.5 million yen, 2.4 million yen, and 4.8 million yen until March 2024 (all prices are excluding tax).
