Grant Aid Agreement Signed for Solomon Islands: Contributing to the Improvement of the Quality of Health and Medical Services through the Improvement of Facilities and Equipment for the Second Hospital in the Country | News & Media

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Solomon Islands Government on June 23 for a grant of up to 2,011 million yen for the “Kilifi Hospital Development Project” in the Solomon Islands.

Kilifi Hospital in Malaita Province, Solomon Islands, is the second largest regional general hospital for surgical services after the National Central Hospital in the capital. The hospital has not been able to adequately meet the demand for medical care in the state.

This project will contribute to SDG Goal 3 (health and welfare for all) by strengthening the medical services at Kilifi Hospital through the construction of a new central treatment building and delivery wing and the installation of medical equipment, thereby improving the quality of health and medical services in Solomon Islands.

(Planned) Facility development/equipment procurement [Facility] Central medical care building (outpatient departments, diagnostic imaging departments, surgery departments, central sterilization department, etc.), delivery building (delivery and neonatal departments) and backbone facilities (power supply, water supply facilities): approx. 2,300 m2

Medical equipment required for the above facilities (general radiography equipment, diagnostic ultrasound equipment, two operating tables, two high-pressure steam sterilizers, etc.) Consulting and services Detailed design, bidding assistance, construction supervision, technical guidance (as software component) for equipment and facility maintenance management, etc.
