ANA Joins IATA Turbulence Aware Platform to Accumulate and Share Turbulence Data

Posted on June 15, 2023 by News Admin

ANA will participate in the IATA Turbulence Aware platform, which accumulates and shares turbulence data.

ANA is the first Japanese airline to join the platform, which currently has 20 member airlines. ANA is the first Japanese airline to participate in the platform. A system for transmitting data on turbulence on Boeing 737s will be introduced this fiscal year, and will be expanded to other aircraft in the future.

By collecting and accumulating data on in-flight turbulence and sharing it with member airlines around the world, the system will make it possible to predict turbulence and select appropriate routes, thereby contributing to improved safety. Flight data from each member airline will be stored in a database in a form that does not allow identification of the source, and will be managed in a manner that makes it available to all member airlines. By importing this data, flight managers and flight crews of each airline will be able to utilize real-time data on turbulence.
