Uber Taxi began service throughout Narita City, Chiba Prefecture.
A total of more than 20 vehicles will be dispatched on the Uber app in cooperation with Urban Transportation, a cab company in the Chiba Prefecture area. This makes it possible to use the Uber app to dispatch cabs to and from Narita Airport, hotels used for transit stays, Narita-san Shinsho-ji Temple, Narita-san Park, and other locations.
For foreign tourists, it is a hurdle to download and use a new car-dispatch application during their visit to Japan, and it is difficult to support multiple languages on each application. However, Uber, which is used in about 70 countries, is available in 50 languages around the world, and users can use the app in Japan without any changes.
From selecting a destination to requesting a car and making a payment, all can be operated in one’s native language, and chatting with the crew is also translated on the app. The app’s automatic payment function eliminates the need for payment upon arrival.
