JAL Hometown Ambassadors and Supporters] Amami comes to Tokyo! The 2nd Marugoto Amami in Tokyo” will be held in July!

Posted on June 2, 2023 by News Admin

JAL, which has bases throughout Japan, has been continuously implementing regional revitalization initiatives (currently the “JAL Furusato Project”), and in August 2020 launched the “JAL Furusato Ambassadors,” cabin crew members selected through an in-house recruitment process who move to the area to promote initiatives in their respective regions. In December of the same year, JAL appointed “JAL Hometown Cheering Troops” who are involved in regional revitalization while serving as flight attendants. The aim is to develop products and solve regional issues for hometowns and other regions with which they have connections, utilizing the knowledge they have accumulated as flight attendants.

We interviewed Ms. Kinuyo Mochiki, a Furusato Ambassador who is involved in the event planning of “Marugoto Amami in Tokyo” at the Kagoshima Branch Amami Sales Office.

–What can you tell us about your initiatives?

As an airline that connects people, goods, and communities, we, Japan Airlines, are working together to solve local issues. In April 2021, the “New JAPAN PROJECT,” a regional revitalization activity launched in May 2011, was renamed the “JAL Furusato Project,” and various activities are currently underway.

I am a JAL Furusato Ambassador who moved to Amami Oshima as part of the JAL Furusato Project to work on community revitalization. Since last year’s “1st Marugoto Amami in Tokyo” (Shibuya), I was invited to join the event staff and this year I will again promote Amami Oshima in Tokyo together with the people of my favorite island.

Marugoto Amami in Tokyo” will be held for the second time, an event where you can feel Amami while in Tokyo and enjoy food, culture, experiences, and much more. This year’s event will be held at Kichijoji Excel Hotel Tokyu on July 1-2!

–How are you involved in this effort?

This will be the second time I have participated in this event since assuming the position of ambassador, and I have been involved in meetings with the committee members to come up with ideas for scenarios and other activities. I will also be working together with the Shimachu who came to Tokyo from the Amami Islands and the committee members to provide hospitality and promote Amami to the best of my ability so that the visitors to the event will become fans of Amami!

I want to go to Amami, but I don’t know how to access ……” and “Where should I go around?” Please feel free to contact us for the best information for such customers!
