JR Tokai, JR West, and JR Kyushu will implement fare revisions for the Express Reservation and Smart EX online reservation and ticketless boarding services for the Tokaido, Sanyo, and Kyushu Shinkansen lines. Implementation will begin in the fall.
While non-reserved ordinary car seats will remain unchanged, the discount rate for reserved ordinary car seats and green car seats will be reduced, and seasonal fares (normal, off-peak, peak season, and busiest season) will be introduced. Newly established “EX Early Special 28 Wide
In addition, “EX Early Special 28 Wide” is newly established, offering the cheapest Shinkansen Nozomi service from Tokyo, Shinagawa, and Shin-Yokohama to Nagoya, Kyoto, and Shin-Osaka by making a reservation at least 28 days prior to the boarding date.
As an example, Tokyo/Shinagawa-Nagoya will be sold for 9,700 yen (1,600 yen discount) instead of the usual 11,300 yen, and Tokyo/Shinagawa-Shin-Osaka will be sold for 12,240 yen (2,480 yen discount) instead of the usual 14,720 yen. This service will also begin in the fall of 2023.
