Say goodbye to back steaming with the “Cool Backpack. Fan & cooling plate that can be retrofitted to backpacks

Posted on May 29, 2023 by News Admin

Sanko has released a wearable cooler that can be retrofitted to backpacks, etc., called “Chilly Chuck” (6,980 yen). It is available at the official online store, directly managed stores, and e-commerce sites.

The “Chikyari-duck” consists of a cooling plate equipped with a fan and a frame for fixing it to the backpack. The plate is cooled to minus 12°C from the outside temperature by “Peltier cooling,” a system of small refrigerators, and a fan blows air to keep the user cool. The cooling plate can be switched between two levels of intensity, and can also be used with the fan alone.

It is USB-powered for use with a mobile battery and operates for about 4 hours in Peltier + fan high mode and about 5 hours in low mode. It can be secured with a buckle at the top and hook and loop fasteners at the bottom, and can be used not only on a backpack but also on a chair or car seat. The main unit measures 420 x 300 x 100 (W x H x D) and weighs approximately 600g.
