NEC (NEC Corporation) exhibited the face recognition system used in the “Face Express” system at Narita Airport and other systems at the government PR corner of the G7 Hiroshima Summit being held in Hiroshima from May 19 to 21.
NEC’s face recognition system has been adopted at the security gate of Narita Airport and USJ (Universal Studios Japan), and has received the “Science and Technology Award (Development Category)” in the “2022 Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology”. Basically, it uses a visible light camera (ordinary camera) to recognize feature points, even if the person is wearing a mask or sunglasses. Individuals can be quickly registered and identified with high accuracy and speed.
At present, the system can analyze the flow of people passing by one after another, and once registered, the system follows them so that it can recognize them even from behind.
