IHG Hotels & Resorts announced an agreement with AXA Life Insurance to open the InterContinental Sapporo in the fall of 2025.
This is the fifth IHG hotel in Hokkaido and the 11th InterContinental brand hotel in Japan. The hotel will occupy the upper floors (9-14F) of a new building in AXA Life Insurance’s AXA Sapporo Nakajima Koen Project (Minami 10-jo Nishi 1-chome, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido), and will have a total of 149 guest rooms ranging from 42m2 standard to 159m2 suites. The hotel will also feature a lounge, bar, indoor pool, and fitness gym.
The rooms are designed to resemble a high-quality, comfortable “mansion,” with full-width windows offering views of Nakajima Park and the Toyohira River, allowing guests to feel the richness of Sapporo’s nature. Meals will be served at two restaurants: an open-air all-day dining room with a show kitchen and a kappo-style Japanese restaurant with counter seating.
