Casio Computer Co., Ltd. will release a new outdoor watch “PRO TREK” on May 19, 2012, the PRW-35, which uses biomass plastic for resin parts and has a smaller and lighter case. The price ranges from 44,000 yen to 46,200 yen.
Compared to the previous PRW-30 model, the case is now 44.6mm (-0.6mm) in width and 51.2mm (-0.4mm) in height. The new model is also lighter, weighing 45g, 21g less than the previous model.
Biomass plastic is expected to contribute to the reduction of environmental burdens because it is made from renewable organic resources such as castor beans and corn. The soft urethane band made of biomass plastic material, which is both strong and flexible, has slit holes for perspiration drainage and improved wearability in mountain climbing and outdoor scenes.
On the right side of the watch is a large direct button with non-slip knurling that is easy to press even when wearing gloves. This enables one-push measurement of azimuth, barometric pressure, altitude, and temperature. Visibility is also enhanced by the highly visible STN LCD and large, bold font display.
