Kumamoto Prefecture is offering events and activities suitable for Golden Week and other major holidays. In the northern part of Kumamoto Prefecture, the “Cane-date Onsen Carp Streamer Festival” is being held until May 6, and in the southern part, Ashikita Town, the “Kanko Utase Boat” has started operation.
This year marked the 43rd “Jetate Onsen Carp Streamer Festival,” and 80 volunteers from local residents and Kumamoto Prefectural Oguni High School decorated the streamers. The magnificent sight of more than 3,000 carp streamers swimming over the Cetate River, illuminated at night, has become a familiar spring scene in Oguni Town.
