Basic Response Policy” is abolished with the shift to Class 5 for new coronas. Infection control measures are now voluntary efforts by individuals and businesses.

Posted on May 1, 2023 by News Admin

The Cabinet Secretariat announced that it will abolish the “Basic Policy on Countermeasures against New Coronavirus Infections” following the official decision to shift the status of new coronavirus infections to category 5 infectious diseases on May 8, 2011.

As a result, the calls for “avoidance of the three densities,” “maintaining distance between people,” “hand washing and other hand hygiene,” “ventilation,” and other industry-specific guidelines based on the basic coping policy will disappear, and individuals and businesses will be required to take infection control measures on their own initiative in the future.

The government will continue to provide necessary information on voluntary infection control measures even after the change in status under the Infectious Disease Control Law.
