Hotel Metropolitan Edmont (3-10-8 Iidabashi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will offer a premium overnight stay plan “You too can be a Shinkansen Crew! JR East Shinkansen Work Tour” starting June 3, limited to 10 groups (elementary school students and older). In conjunction with this, reservations will be accepted on the “JRE MALL” EC site from 12:00 p.m. on April 25, 2012.
On the first day, an active Shinkansen driver from East Japan Railway will visit the hotel. Visitors will be able to experience the operation of the E5 Series Shinkansen simulator, which will be installed in the lobby until the end of June, while receiving direct instruction on deceleration, braking, and other functions.
On the second day, we moved to the Tokyo Shinkansen Train Center. In addition to viewing the driver’s cab and underfloor, which are normally not available to visitors, they will also experience door opening and closing operations. Visitors can learn about the safety mechanism of the Shinkansen through the crew and maintenance work.
