Kibune Shrine (180 Kurama Kibune-cho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) in Kyoto will be illuminated with fresh greenery from May 3 to 5.
Usually, the 3,000 blue maples on the grounds of the shrine are at their best from mid-April to mid-May, when the whole area is crowded with people enjoying the kawayuka (riverbeds) and other activities in May. In conjunction with this timing, the lanterns along the approach to the main shrine and the Ryusenkaku (dragon boat pavilion) will be illuminated. Hours are from sunset to 20:00.
