Renewal work on the Oigawa Bridge at the Tomei Yaizu IC to Yoshida IC; traffic congestion expected due to lane switching every spring until 2028.

Posted on April 2, 2023 by News Admin

NEXCO Central Japan Tokyo Branch will conduct renewal work on the Oigawa Bridge (upper and lower lines) between Yaizu IC and Yoshida IC on the Tomei Expressway. The period is from May 28 to late May 2028.

The renewal work will minimize the impact on traffic congestion by replacing the floor slab in sections to keep the current four lanes as narrow as possible.

In addition, from May 28 to June 12 and around April of each year from 2024 to 2028, work will be conducted to switch the lanes to be constructed. During the lane switching work, the number of travel lanes will be restricted from two to one, and traffic congestion of up to 10 km is expected, especially during morning and evening commuting hours. During this period, drivers are urged to consider detouring to the New Tokyo-Nagoya Expressway, changing their going out time, or using public transportation.
