JR West Food Service Net will renew the uniforms of Sanyo Shinkansen pursers on April 1.
In order to produce the new uniform, a “New Uniform Project Team” consisting of about 30 members was established after collecting opinions from all pursers who actually wear the uniform. The team aimed to create a design that would give a sense of quality and elegance to the green car service pursers. The uniforms will also use JR West’s corporate colors as a color scheme.
In handling some of the conductor duties, the company also considered ease of handling in-house duties, ease of movement, and ease of use. The fabric is wrinkle-resistant, flexible and breathable, and is made of environmentally friendly wool blend and recycled yarn. It is also designed to accommodate the purser’s personal belongings.
The disposal method for the current uniforms is planned to be material recycling.
