Dispatch of International Emergency Relief Teams and Medical Teams to Earthquake Damage in the Republic of Turkey (Fourth Report)
On March 3, based on a request from the government of the Republic of Turkey, JICA decided to dispatch the third contingent of the International Emergency Relief Team and Medical Team for the earthquake damage centered in southeastern Turkey.

Disaster Situation
At 10:17 a.m. Japan time (4:17 a.m. local time) on February 6, an earthquake struck near the Kahramanmaraş province in the southeastern part of the Republic of Turkey, causing numerous victims, including casualties, and property damage. According to the Disaster Emergency Agency (AFAD) of the Turkish Ministry of Interior, 44.374 people have been killed as of February 26.
Dispatch of International Emergency Relief Teams and Medical Teams
In response to a request from the Republic of Turkey, JICA dispatched a first contingent (75 members) and a second contingent (64 members) of the International Emergency Relief Team and Medical Team to provide medical support. The outline is as follows. An outline of the team is as follows.
(1) The third medical team consists of 41 members in total, including the leader, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, medical coordinators, logisticians, and operations coordinators.
(2) The team will consist of 6 members who will remain in the second group for an extended period of time. The team will depart on March 4 (first group: 19 members), 5 (second group: 12 members), 8 (third group: 3 members), and 12 (fourth group: 1 member).
(3) The third medical team is scheduled to be deployed for approximately two weeks, but the duration of the emergency relief activities will be determined based on local needs.
