Moomin Valley Park Spring Festival, New Friends, Mr. Hemulen the Botanist! Limited time only goods & flower coloring food are also featured! Hemulens Academy, a learning experience in nature, has started!

Posted on March 4, 2023 by News Admin

Moomin Valley Park (327-6 Miyazawa, Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture), operated by Moomin Story, will hold its spring event “SPRING FESTIVAL” from March 1 to April 23.

During the festival, spring flowers such as nemophila and ranunculus will be in full bloom around the Moomin Valley area by the lake, decorating the park in vivid colors. Visitors can enjoy the colorful scenery unique to the Spring Festival period.

The most notable of all is Mr. Hemren, a botanist who will be joining Moomin Valley Park as a new member of the team for this event. He is a serious and knowledgeable man, and is one of the residents of the Moomin Valley. He also has a droll side, as he is so engrossed in collecting plants that he has angered Nyoronjoro, who chased him away.

Mr. Hemren will appear in the park from time to time, and guests can enjoy taking pictures with him. Commemorative stickers will also be distributed during the event.

In addition, Moomin Valley Park will launch “Hemulen’s academy,” a workshop where visitors can experience “learning” in the park’s lush natural setting, on the occasion of Hemulen’s appearance.

In Scandinavian Finland, the birthplace of the “Moomin” series, education is rooted in an emphasis on individuality and independence, and on living in harmony with nature from an early age. At Hemlens Academy, guided by members of a local bird club in Hanno, visitors can enjoy learning while exploring and observing various plants, trees, and other living creatures in the park and making flower crowns and Japanese paper.

This is the first field-based workshop of its kind at the facility. Both children and adults are free to participate, and the workshops will be held from time to time during spring break and other consecutive holidays.

During the event, limited-edition products such as tote bags, parkas, and snacks decorated with original artwork of Moomin and friends will also be available.

In addition, a new menu of pasta and meat dishes is available at the “Moomin Valley Restaurant” on the first floor of Cochems. Gorgeous desserts with flower motifs can be purchased at the cafĂ© or at the store.

At a press preview held prior to the Spring Festival, Kumiko Ito, President and Representative Director of Moomin Monogatari, who will take office in December 2022, once again explained the concept of the facility.

The park’s main point of differentiation from other facilities is the “coexistence of play and learning,” and the park is appealing to guests as a park where “the charm of the characters and the abundant nature will bring a smile to guests’ hearts.

President Ito, who was the first to unveil the new Moomin character Hemelin, said, “I hope you enjoy the world of the Moomins through this event.
