The 50th Mt. Tsukuba Plum Blossom Festival” with 1,000 plum trees in full bloom. Cheers to new sake and wines from the fruit special zone!

The Mt. Tsukuba Plum Blossom Festival Executive Committee will hold the 50th Mt. The festival will be held from February 18 to March 19.

Tsukuba, about 1,000 plum trees bloom from February to March every year. From the “Observation Azumaya” at the top of the ume grove, visitors can look down on the ume blossoms, the countryside at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba, as well as Tokyo Sky Tree and Mt. Fuji on a clear day. Moss-covered “Tsukuba stones” can be seen throughout the park, providing a contrast to the ume blossoms.

This year’s event will also feature “Cheers Tsukuba,” a project to celebrate the 50th anniversary with local sake. Visitors can enjoy new local sake from the Mt. Tsukuba water system and wine from the Tsukuba Wine and Fruit Special Zone. In addition, each restaurant will offer a menu featuring ume (Japanese apricot) and a limited-time-only arrangement of Tsukuba Udon, a specialty of Mt.
