Osaka Metro (Osaka Municipal High-Speed Railways) is currently conducting a demonstration experiment of a face recognition ticket gate as part of its cashless/ticketless ticket gate initiatives for the Osaka-Kansai Expo to be held in 2025. In addition to this, the company will launch a “digital ticket service using QR codes” and a “Visa touch payment” demonstration experiment sequentially from fiscal 2024.
This will enable the company to meet a wide variety of domestic and international needs by providing transportation IC cards, QR codes, Visa touch payments, and facial recognition ticket gates at the time of the Expo.
For the Visa touch payment verification experiment, Sumitomo Mitsui Card’s “stera transit” solution for public transportation was adopted. All stations will be covered by the solution, which also supports brands other than Visa.
