NEXCO East Japan has forecast snowfall and accumulation in the Kanto Plain from the morning of February 10 until late at night, which may result in road closures on expressways in its service area.
As of 12:00 p.m. on September 9, the following areas were listed as such: Nerima IC to Honjo Kodama IC on the Kanetsu Expressway, Akiruno IC to Tsurugashima JCT on the Ken-O Expressway, and Matsuida Myogi IC to Tobu Yunomaru IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway. It also announces the possibility of a ban on normal tire traffic in a wide area of its jurisdiction.
In addition to avoiding unnecessary trips out of the city, the government also urges people to install winter tires and carry chains, as driving on snow-covered roads with normal tires is a violation of the law.
