Sindh, Pakistan, has one of the lowest gross enrollment and primary education completion rates among the country’s four provinces, with a large proportion and absolute number of out-of-school children (OOSC), as well as extremely large gender differences. The country is also characterized by large disparities in enrollment rates among girls from poor rural families, and other disparities based on socioeconomic status. Factors hindering the spread of education in Pakistan include family factors (parents’ educational background and income, family structure, values regarding girls’ education, etc.), educational factors (teachers, curriculum and teaching materials, school management and facilities, etc.), and geographical factors (distance to school, safety on the way to school, etc.).
The cooperation will approach mainly educational factors by improving dropout deterrence and learning activities from a gender perspective in public elementary school in Sindh province in collaboration with parents and communities, and by supporting local administrative officers to implement and disseminate school attendance continuity activities in targeted provinces in the province, thereby reducing OOSC in the province.
