Expressway Companies Offer Discounts for Persons with Disabilities to Cars Other Than Those Pre-Registered. Online application is also available.

Posted on February 13, 2023 by News Admin

The three NEXCO companies, Metropolitan Expressway Company, Hanshin Expressway Company, and JB Honsha Expressway Company, have reviewed the discount system for the disabled on toll roads and will apply it from March 27.

Discounts for the disabled are implemented uniformly by toll road operators nationwide to support the independence and participation in socioeconomic activities of disabled people who use toll roads in their daily lives, such as commuting to work, school, and hospital visits.

Until now, the discount was applied only to private cars that were pre-registered. However, the discount will now be applied to cars that are not pre-registered, such as those used by acquaintances, rented cars, and cabs used by people with severe disabilities who need nursing care. Regardless of whether the car is pre-registered or not, the application procedure for the discount must be completed in advance.

When using a vehicle that has not been pre-registered, the driver must stop once at the toll booth, and the attendant will check the information on the disabled person’s identification card and his or her sympathies. When using a cab or other means of transportation, it is necessary to inform the driver when making a reservation or before boarding the cab that you would like to use a discount for the disabled on toll roads, and confirm with the cab operator that they can accommodate your request. Discounts for cab rides are available only for persons with severe disabilities.

In addition, online application will be introduced. In order to use the online application, a my number card and registration with MyNa Portal are required for identification. For those who cannot use the online application, applications will continue to be accepted at welfare offices.
