JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with Mongolian Minister of Education and Science Enkhuamgaran at JICA headquarters on February 8.
Minister Enkhuamgaran expressed his gratitude for JICA’s longstanding cooperation with Mongolia’s higher education and health sectors and his expectations for continued cooperation in the future. In particular, he emphasized that the yen loan “Engineering Higher Education Support Project,” which began in 2014, has produced human resources to support Mongolia’s economic growth, and that this project plays a significant role in Mongolia.
Chancellor Tanaka expressed his admiration and appreciation for the three Japanese-style technical colleges established in Mongolia in 2014, which have been highly acclaimed by students and companies. Minister Enkhuamgaran introduced plans to further expand Japanese-style technical college education in Mongolia in the future. He also explained that Mongolia is a model for countries considering the introduction of technical colleges, and that he will share his knowledge with other countries in the future. The participants also exchanged opinions on the direction of cooperation in higher education.
They also exchanged opinions on the Mongolian-Japanese Hospital, which was constructed with JICA’s grant aid, and the need to strengthen the functions and human resource development required of the first university-affiliated hospital in Mongolia in the future.
