Dispatch of International Emergency Relief Teams and Rescue Teams to Earthquake Damage in the Republic of Turkey
On February 6, JICA will dispatch an international emergency relief team and rescue team to Kahramanmaraş in southeastern Turkey in response to a request from the government of the Republic of Turkey for assistance in dealing with the devastating earthquake that struck the region.

Disaster Situation
At 10:17 a.m. Japan time (4:17 a.m. local time) on February 6, an earthquake struck Kahramanmaraş in the southeastern part of the Republic of Turkey. The following is a summary of the damage to date.
As of Feb. 6 a.m./21:00 p.m. (as announced by the Turkish government)

Dispatch of International Emergency Relief Teams and Rescue Teams
In response to a request from the government of the Republic of Turkey on April 6, the Japanese government decided to dispatch an international emergency rescue team that evening, and JICA began preparations for the team’s dispatch. The following is an outline of the mission.
(1) The first team consists of 18 members (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Police Agency, Fire and Disaster Management Agency, Japan Coast Guard, medical team, structural assessment experts, and JICA JDR secretariat); the second team will be dispatched on the 7th and will join the team at the site (about 72 members in total).
(2) The first team will depart from Haneda Airport for Istanbul Airport by Turkish Airlines on Monday, February 6.
(3) The team formation ceremony will be held at Haneda Airport on Monday, February 6, 2012.
