Naoki Wakabayashi’s Travel Photo Gallery] Pottery Village Bach Chan, Vietnam

Posted on February 11, 2023 by News Admin

Traveling in Southeast Asia, you will find unique villages. Here in Bach Chan Village, Vietnam, is another interesting village full of stores and workshops selling various types of pottery, both large and small.

There are few shoppers or tourists, and people who look like buyers are often seen. The shopkeepers do not try to sell anything to you until you talk to them, as if they do not think you will buy anything. This is a good thing because it allows me to look around at a leisurely pace.

Many of the pottery-making studios allow visitors to freely show their work, and the people working there smile at you even as they create their pieces. The works vary from earthy pots to modern tableware, but many of them are interesting because of their distinctive paintings. The village still retains its old townscape and the traditional Southeast Asian scenery. There are not many restaurants, but you can find handmade bamboo rolls and dango (dango?) on the streets. Bach Chan Village is close to Hanoi and can be reached by cab, or by bus for less than 50 yen. There are fewer cars and motorcycles when traveling from Hanoi, so you can enjoy a quiet and relaxing tour of the village.
