In Tanzania, demand for electricity is increasing in line with economic growth. However, aging equipment and facilities and inadequate maintenance and management capacity have resulted in transmission and distribution losses, and during peak demand periods and the dry season, when hydroelectric power output declines, the country is unable to meet demand and frequent power outages occur. Therefore, the Tanzanian government has set increasing power generation capacity as one of the goals of its national development plan in order to meet the country’s growing electricity demand. To achieve this goal, the Tanzania Electricity Supply Authority (TEPA) is required to expand its power grid and at the same time provide a stable supply of electricity, which requires further expansion of power facilities and an increase in technical staff and capacity.
This cooperation will strengthen and establish preventive maintenance operations by enhancing the capacity of personnel engaged in the operation and maintenance of power transmission and distribution systems, thereby contributing to improving the reliability and efficiency of the country’s power supply and energy access through these operations.
