Meijikan Kiyosu-Nishi IC to Nagoya-Nishi JCT closed for day and night; outbound in April, inbound in May

Posted on January 24, 2023 by News Admin

NEXCO Central Japan, Nagoya Branch will conduct intensive construction work on the Meijikan Jyosha-Minami IC to Nagoya-Nishi JCT (inbound and outbound) and the Nagoya Expressway, Sennonji Exit to Higashimeihan Nagoya-Nishi IC (offbound). The road closures will be in effect from 2:00 a.m. on April 9 to 24:00 p.m. on April 17 on the outer side of the Nagoya-Nishi JCT to Kiyosu-Nishi Interchange, and from 2:00 a.m. on May 8 to 24:00 p.m. on May 17 on the inner side of the same section, for day and night.

During the closure period, congestion and traffic jams are expected on public roads in the area, as well as on the Nagoya Expressway’s Inner Ring Road, Banba Line, and Nagoya Nishi JCT area. For this reason, we are calling for wide-area detours to the Isewan Coastal Highway, avoiding congested times, and the use of public transportation.

In case of detouring during the restricted period, tolls will be adjusted so that, in principle, the tolls will be the same as those for direct use of the construction section.

More than 30 years have passed since the Meijikan Expressway was opened to traffic, and it is gradually deteriorating. Currently, the road structure is being upgraded with high-performance waterproofing slabs and other measures to extend its service life, but in view of the traffic congestion caused by lane restrictions and the extended restriction period, the road will be closed continuously day and night in order to reduce traffic congestion and the restriction period.
