Odakyu (Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd.) has developed “XR Romance Car,” a sightseeing content that combines the limited express Romance Car VSE (Type 50000) and XR technology.
On February 18, 19, and 23, a “Monitor Tour to Experience the State-of-the-Art XR Technology on Romance Cars” will be held, inviting a total of 50 participants to experience the state-of-the-art world from the VSE observation seats.
The project will be held on the “XR Romance Car” running from Shinjuku Station to Isehara Station, where passengers wearing VR goggles equipped with a pass-through function (a function that projects the real world onto VR goggles) will be able to enjoy the real world and XR movies The visitor can enjoy both the real world and the XR works through a large front glass window.
The XR artwork, created by internationally acclaimed XR artist Keisuke Ito, will be led by a character modeled after a spirit, and will recreate the story of the “Daisen Pilgrimage,” a religious culture that has continued since the Edo period (1603-1868).
After the XR experience, guidebooks and other materials will be distributed so that participants can further enjoy the “Daisen Pilgrimage” that appears in the work. The tour will be disbanded upon arrival at Isehara Station, after which participants can enjoy local sightseeing on their own.
