Aeon Pet will begin domestic pre-sales of “Micke,” a lost-and-found tag with a two-dimensional barcode that alerts the customer to the pet’s location, at Petemo stores nationwide in sequence starting January 1, 2023.
Pet escapes and strays are a contributing factor to the occurrence of shelter dogs and cats, and the company has been disseminating knowledge on the importance of microchipping and proper care of pets as a countermeasure. The Lost Tag Micke was developed based on MAPLE’s “Welcome Home QR Pet,” a system that informs pet owners of their pet’s location, image, and other information by reading the printed two-dimensional barcode.
Three sizes are available: S for small dogs and cats, M for medium-sized dogs, and L for large dogs. Priced at 2,970 yen.
