Widening of the Chuo Expressway from the Tajimi IC to the Komaki-Higashi IC (off-ramp), with an additional lane on the right side, is completed.

Posted on December 26, 2022 by News Admin

NEXCO Central Japan will complete shoulder widening work on the 3.7-km section of the Chuo Expressway (E19) from the Tajimi IC to the Komaki-Higashi IC (downhill) with an additional lane on the right side at around 1:00 p.m. on December 21.

The additional lane on the right side of this section has been in operation since March 2016, replacing the former “uphill lane on the left side” system. This is an attempt to improve the overall lane utilization ratio. As a result, the use of the first lane by large vehicles has increased and the utilization ratio has evened out.

The widening work is expected to increase the width of the left lane shoulder from 75 cm to 175 cm by reconstructing the median strip, making it easier for emergency vehicles to park.
