JR East suspends or cancels services on conventional lines in Niigata on December 20.

JR East Niigata Branch announced the operation status of conventional lines on December 20.

Due to the extensive impact of the heavy snowfall on conventional lines within the Niigata Branch Office, operations are suspended or cancelled due to the need to clear snow from tracks, trains, platforms, and other areas.

All “Shirayuki” limited express trains will be suspended. Operation between Nagaoka and Naoetsu Stations on the Shinetsu Main Line will be suspended throughout the day, and between Niigata and Nagaoka Stations will be suspended until around noon. After resumption of operations, the number of trains will be reduced.

Limited Express “Inaho” No. 2, 4, 6, 10, 12 (up) and No. 3, 5, 9, 11, 13 (down) are cancelled. No. 8 (departing Akita Station at 10:35) and No. 14 (departing Akita Station at 16:37) operate only between Akita and Sakata Station, No. 1 (departing Sakata Station at 10:37) and No. 7 (departing Sakata Station at 17:12) operate only between Sakata and Akita Station. The No. 1 (departing at 10:37 a.m. from Sakata) and No. 7 (departing at 5:12 p.m. from Sakata) will operate only between Sakata and Akita.

All trains on the Hakushin Line will be suspended until noon. The Ban-Etsu-Nishi Line will suspend operation between Niitsu and Yamato Stations all day. The Echigo Line will suspend operation between Niigata and Uchino Stations until 16:00, and between Uchino and Kashiwazaki Stations all day. Tadami Line will suspend operation between Koide and Oshirakawa Stations, and all Yahiko Line trains will be suspended all day.

The Hetsu Main Line will operate between Murakami and Sakata Stations, the Joetsu Line between Muikamachi and Mizukami Stations, and the Iiyama Line between Morimiyanohara and Tokamachi Stations.
