NEXCO Central Japan held the 5th liaison and coordination meeting regarding the New Tomei Expressway (Ebina-Minami JCT to Gotemba JCT).
The New Tomei Expressway between Ebina Minami JCT and Gotemba JCT has been opened sequentially since FY2017, with Ebina Minami JCT to Shin-Hadano IC and Shin-Gotemba IC to Gotemba JCT already opened by April 2022. Currently, the project is underway at the Shin-Hadano IC – Shin-Gotemba IC (25 km long).
In the excavation of the Takamatsu Tunnel, vulnerable ground and fault zones have been identified, so the company will excavate the tunnel while implementing countermeasures appropriate for the ground after consulting with experts. In the unexcavated section of the Takamatsu Tunnel, vulnerable ground and fault zones have also been identified, and construction will be carried out while implementing countermeasure work suitable for the ground.
In light of the above, we have revised the opening schedule of the Shin-Hatano IC – Shin-Gotemba IC section to FY2027. The local governments along the route, while appreciating the new opening target after carefully examining the construction process under difficult site conditions, strongly request that the project be promoted for the earliest possible opening of the entire route, as they have high expectations for the early opening of the entire route.
