JR East has selected the winning ekiben from among 58 entries in the “Ekiben Aji no Jinin 2022.
The “Ekiben Daishogun” with the highest evaluation in the voting was “Tsugaru no bento: O- fish everywhere” from Aomori Prefecture, and the “Ekiben Vice Shogun” with the second highest overall evaluation was “Sakiyo-ken: 150th Anniversary of Railway Business” from Kanagawa Prefecture. The Taste Award went to Aomori Prefecture’s “Tsugaru Zukushi Bento,” while Aomori Prefecture’s “Kaikyo Zuke Chirashi” was awarded for the best presentation, and Tokyo’s “Suica no Penguin Otona no Kodomo-sama Lunch” was selected for the best hanging paper award.
The ekiben with the most votes was Gunma Prefecture’s “Hokuriku Shinkansen 25th Anniversary Kamameshi. The ekiben that received the highest overall rating among the new ekiben was Tochigi Prefecture’s “Utsunomiya Gobento, the Birthplace of Ekiben.
A total of 22 other ekiben products also received awards, including the Area Award, the 150th Anniversary Special Award, and the Memorial Year Award.
