Otsu City, Keihan Bus, and BIP ROGY have launched a demonstration experiment of the “Otsu City Automatic Operation and Keihan Bus Otsu City Ticket App” (Android/iOS version) to promote use of public transportation and improve circulation. The period of implementation is from December 13 to February 28, 2023.
The application was adopted by Otsu City for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s “FY2021 Subsidy for Regional Public Transportation Maintenance and Improvement Project” and will be provided for the automated bus demonstration experiment that began on December 10, 2021. With the number of public transportation users and the amount spent by visitors on sightseeing on the decline, the application aims to increase the willingness of citizens and visitors to go out by distributing information on local events, stores, and facilities, and by providing digital tickets and coupons for local events.
Users can purchase “Automatic Bus One-way Ticket” (210 yen for adults/110 yen for children) and “Keihan Bus Otsu City One-day Free Ticket” (600 yen for adults/300 yen for children) on the application, and also receive information on events, stores, and facilities, and coupons for distribution. The two digital tickets will be available from December 13 to February 4, 2023.
