Garmin’s Instinct Crossover series of outdoor GPS watches with integrated analog watch

Garmin Japan will release the Instinct Crossover series of toughness outdoor GPS watches with an analog watch built into the watch face on December 16.

The Instinct series is rugged enough to meet MIL-STD-810 (heat, shock, and water resistant), a standard set by the U.S. Department of Defense, while also offering a full range of functions as a full-fledged smartwatch. The new Instinct Crossover incorporates an analog watch into its design while retaining navigation and other functions. In addition to the solar-powered Instinct Crossover Dual Power (two models), the Instinct Crossover Dual Power Tactical Edition, with military functions such as compatibility with night vision goggles and stealth mode, and the online The “Instinct Crossover” is a non-solar model sold exclusively through online stores.

Watch functions include RevoDrive, a unique function that detects watch hands misalignment due to external shocks and automatically corrects them to the standard time of the current location using GPS. The display is high-resolution and designed to allow easy viewing of both the clock and digital screen even behind the luminous analog hands. When displaying measurement data, the clock hand automatically moves to an unobstructed position. A hybrid display of digital and analog hands is also available. In step counting, the current number of steps is displayed digitally, while the clock hand shows the progress to the day’s goal, allowing users to intuitively monitor their progress.

Health monitoring functions include heart rate, step count, etc., as well as stress level, Body Battery to visualize the body’s remaining energy level, blood oxygen tracking, and sleep score to evaluate sleep quality with a numerical value up to 100. Sports activity functions include strength training, running, swimming, yoga, and other daily health maintenance activities; skiing, snowboarding, golf, windsurfing, mountain biking, and other sports; HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), cross-country skiing, fishing, hunting, and other activities. It has more than 30 types, ranging from cross-country, fishing and hunting profiles, etc. It is also equipped with an accident and fall detection function that automatically detects accidents and sends the current location to registered emergency contacts when a sudden accident occurs in the outdoors.

Battery functionality has also been further enhanced. The solar-powered Instinct Crossover Dual Power can be used in analog mode without limitations. Even in the most power-intensive GPS and optical heart rate monitor modes, it provides approximately 25 hours of operation and 6 hours of operation with solar recharging.

The Instinct Crossover Dual Power is priced at 93,000 yen, the Instinct Crossover Dual Power Tactical Edition at 99,000 yen, and the Instinct Crossover at 83,000 yen.
