Beppu Ropeway to operate on New Year’s Day. The first 1,000 visitors will receive a zodiac sign of good fortune earthenware bell and a pocket warmer.

Posted on November 16, 2022 by News Admin

The Beppu Ropeway will operate on January 1, 2023, from 5:00 a.m. on the first day of the new year. The first boarding will begin at 5:00 a.m. and will be guided on a first-come, first-served basis. Since the downhill ride is expected to be crowded, boarding will be by numbered tickets and boarding passes. The scheduled time of the first sunrise in Oita Prefecture is around 7:17 am. The fare is 1,600 yen round-trip for adults and 800 yen round-trip for children.

In addition, the first 1,000 passengers, including all passengers on the New Year’s Day sunrise ride and those who purchase a round-trip ticket for the ropeway on or after New Year’s Day, will receive an inviting Chinese zodiac earthenware bell and a pocket warmer at Beppu Kogen Station. The earthenware bell has the name “Beppu Tsurumiyama” on it.

The Beppu Ropeway is a 10-minute cable car ride up to the top of Tsurumidake Mountain in Aso-Kujyu National Park, 1375 meters above sea level. The ropeway normally operates from 9:00 am.
